Mike McEnearney

The energy, skill and vision that makes Mike a forerunner in the Australian food industry has been cultivated over 30 years of experience. He has led some of the world’s finest restaurants and been an inspiration to many. Beginning his career at Sydney’s acclaimed Chez Oz and Rockpool in 1990, Mike moved to London in 1995 where he worked at the Michelin starred Pied a Terre and ran the kitchens of Mezzo, Bluebird, The Pharmacy and Scott’s.

Since returning to Australia in 2006 to head up the Rockpool kitchen, in 2011 Mike undertook his first personal project, Mike’s Table. The acclaimed underground dining experience set the stage for the award-winning Kitchen by Mike to open in 2012.

2018 saw the opening of Kitchen by Mike in the newly transformed Sydney Airport International Terminal, Kitchen by Mike Express followed soon after. Kitchen by Mike CBD opened in May 2019, and in April 2020, Mike launched Kitchen by Mike at Home. Since 2021, Kitchen by Mike Events has catered for large-scale experiences including Westpac Open Air Cinema and Opera Australia’s sell-out production of Phantom of the Opera.

Mike takes great pride in his position as Creative Director of Australia’s largest farmer’s market at Carriageworks, and is the curator of the bi-annual Night Market.

Mike is author of two cookbooks, Kitchen by Mike and Real Food by Mike. He lives in Bronte with his wife Joss and their three boys.
