What is Festival of Dangerous Ideas or FODI?

Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI) is Australia’s original disruptive festival. It’s a platform for provocative art, experiences and ideas.

FODI presents a lineup of international and local thought leaders and culture creators, inviting us all to immerse ourselves in ideas and conversations that encourage debate and critical thinking.

FODI invites people to interrogate the world around them, to be curious and to go deeper –  beyond the hype and the headlines.

Stay up to date with FODI news and be the first to access programming via our newsletter and social media channels.

Where can I watch or listen to past FODI sessions?

Sessions from the Festival archive are available via Spotify, Apple podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Select sessions are available via the On Demand section of our website and a selection of video conversations and video highlights are shared on the Festival of Dangerous Ideas YouTube channel.  A new season of the FODI podcast will drop in October 2024.

FODI is presented by The Ethics Centre, an independent non-profit. Both The Ethics Centre and FODI are funded by donations, membership fees, grants, ticket sales and consulting fees. We remain proudly independent.

A breakdown of the revenue that keeps our doors open and speakers on the stage can be found in The Ethics Centre Annual Report.

FODI is made possible by these generous Supporters and Donors.  The Ethics Centre is supported by these generous Donors.

If you’d like to contribute to help us continue, you can make a tax deductible donation here: https://fodi.raiselysite.com/

FODI is a curated festival. What does this mean?

FODI’s speakers, artists and topics are selected carefully by the curatorial team and its advisors. They are guided by this curatorial framework:

  • FODI exists to challenge conventional understanding and belief.
  • FODI does not preach. Rarely does it censor.
  • FODI champions what is possible (but not crazy).
  • FODI is willing to offend (but not vilify).
  • FODI will shock; but not sensationalise.
  • FODI prefers to entertain and inspire.
  • FODI’s platforms are open to those who have earned the right to speak by virtue of their expertise, courage, sincerity and candour. They represent diverse perspectives communicated in diverse forms.
Who can I contact to arrange a media interview?
