Until the age of 18, Simon was a Christian and church was everything – from an extended family and a school to a dating service. This is Simon’s story. A one-person church service about faith, doubt and escape – growing up in the church, walking away from it, and regrets that still linger.
When you FROG (fully rely on God), the world is a much easier place, for a while. From youth camps to purity pledges, living with the weight of original sin on your shoulders can take its toll, and the eventual choice to cast it off comes with mixed feelings. A church service without the boring stuff, And Also With You takes you inside church walls to find out what life is like when Jesus is your best friend.
Simon Vaughan
Simon Vaughan is a theatre maker. And Also With You is his second solo show, which began its life with a sold-out run at the Bondi Festival. His first solo show, Animorphed, won awards at the Adelaide Fringe in 2014 and had sold-out seasons at Bondi Feast 2017 and Sydney Fringe 2013. He is a co-founder of performance collective Applespiel, with whom he has devised and performed many works across Australia.
