FESTIVAL OF DANGEROUS IDEAS TICKETING TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPDATED JUNE 2026

              For all ticket buyers:

  1. In these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), “You” means the individual purchasing tickets for the Festival of Dangerous Ideas event (“FODI”), an event produced by The Ethics Centre Limited, ABN 83 637 740 533 (“TEC”).
  2. It is important that you read these Terms and the FODI Privacy Policy carefully before you attend FODI, or access Content (as defined below). These Terms together with the Privacy Policy form a legally binding agreement. If you do not agree to any of these Terms or the Privacy Policy, please cease to confirm any ticket purchases, and do not attend.
  3. Furthermore, you may not accept these Terms, and thus be a ticket holder for FODI, unless you are 16 years of age or over.
  4. When you access FODI you may have access to services provided by companies outside TEC (“Third Party Services”). FODI and TEC are not responsible for Third Party Services and your use of Third Party Services shall be governed by the applicable terms and conditions of such Third Party Services. This includes, but is not limited to, venue operators City of Sydney and Carriageworks, production services provider Orbit and dplr, and bookshop operator Gleebooks.
  5. Discounts and ‘special ticket offers’ are subject to availability and may be discontinued at the discretion of TEC.
  6. The October 2025 Salman Rushdie early release is a ‘special ticket offer’ made by FODI. If you purchase tickets as part of this special ticket offer you will receive immediate receipt of your payment and booking. You will not receive your tickets at the time of booking. Tickets will not be dispensed prior to August 2026. Tickets will be sent via email to the email address you provided when booking.
  7. Tickets purchased as part of the Salman Rushdie early release special ticket offer will be sent separately to any other Festival tickets you may purchase.

  9. All sales are final. Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged after purchase except as outlined in the Code of Practice for the Ticketing of Live Entertainment Events in Australia
  10. To help ensure the safety and security of events, your person, bags and personal belongings may be subject to a visual search.
  11. FODI reserves the right to record, photograph, stream, broadcast and/or simulcast any Event and by attending the Festival and the Event covered by these Terms and Conditions of Sale, you consent to us doing so. You consent to the use of any image or recording taken of you, and anyone for whom you are responsible, while attending Festival premises, venues and Events, in whole or part, including in public, where that public place is reasonably adjacent to our Festival events, for use in all media now known or later devised. We are not obliged to provide or reproduce to you any such image or recording, or pay you any compensation for the use of any such images or recordings of you.
  12. FODI program details are correct at time of publication but are subject to change at the discretion of FODI where necessary and without notice.
  13. Tickets may not, without the prior consent from FODI, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via online auction sites) either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer. If a ticket is sold in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the bearer of the ticket may be refused.
  14. Any political affiliations or views and opinions expressed by Talent participating in, or sponsoring, the FODI Program do not represent the views of FODI, TEC, their staff, or any partners or sponsors of FODI.
  15. Our liability to you is limited to our obligations under these Terms and Conditions and applicable laws, including the Australian Consumer Law and the LPA Code. Nothing here seeks to modify or exclude your statutory consumer rights and guarantees. Ticket holders enter event venues at their own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from your own acts or omissions, any pre-existing medical condition, your breach of these Terms and Conditions, or your reliance on opinions about events and participants. You agree to compensate us for any loss or damage we suffer as a result of your wilful, reckless or negligent conduct at an event venue. When attending FODI you may encounter services provided by third parties, including venue operators, production providers and booksellers. TEC and FODI are not responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by the relevant third party’s terms and conditions. 
  16. TEC may vary these Terms and Conditions at any time and will post variations at https://festivalofdangerousideas.com/
  17. By making a purchase from TEC you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions in effect at the time of purchase.
  18. TEC is bound by the National Privacy principles under the Privacy Act. TEC holds personal information for the purposes of sending information about TEC events.
